zero offset... would these wheels fit?

My car is lowered a bit but there's still a decent amount of wheel gap.

Here is the wheel 16x8 or 17.8

Alright, so I put my current wheels (protege 16") in this calculator
Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

I know it's along the lines of 205/60/16 OFFSET ~50
My target wheel/tire is 235/40/17 OFFSET 0

If i read this post http://forum.mazda6club.com/wheels-t...tires-faq.html and the calculator correctly.... the wheels will probably be about 2-3 inches further out from the car. Will it rub? Will it look stupid? Will it drive funky or lose traction? Maybe a 7 inch wide tire will work better?

That would rub like crazy and poke out as well. Please dont do it. Reminds me of the low lows that have a retarded amount of poke.

You'll have to find an offset and width that actually works.

Thanks for replying, but where will it rub? I hear that term a lot but don't know if it will rub inner, outer, upper or wherever.

Don't do it! These cars look good with a very wide 17 or a some-what wide 18. Go for something in the 18x8 region with an offset of +35 or less. That will look good bro.

It would be the fender since they will stick out past it. I don't think a roll and pull would allow it to fit. Just to give you a starting point, a lot of members needed a roll even with 8 inch wide wheels with a +45 offset. If you are looking for something with an aggressive fitment you'll have to run some tire stretch and negative camber.

It will rub everywhere. Your wheels will be sticking way out of the fenders.

Learn what offset means

Thanks for your reply but I know what offset is because I specifically stated in my orignal post knowing that my offset will put my wheels outside. I was unsure if the rubbing occurs on the inside of the fenders or not. If it rubs normally on the inside of the fenders I would be okay... but maybe the issue with "rubbing" is mainly on the outside of the fenders.

TLDR: These wheels will stick out due to the offset but I just have a hard time picturing where it will rub and what will rub.

Are you tucking right now with the drop? It you are then your fender would literally be sitting on the tires. Imagine your wheels poking out with your car lowered. Compress your car and the lip of the fender would be hitting the wheels. That's what bmorris is trying to say.

my wheels are 17x8.5 with a +40

that would mean you would be extending another 34MM from where my wheels sit. You could probably fit them with some serious camber and a 205/45/17, but it is going to be a tight fit. definitely will need a roll and pull in the rear, and probably a pull up front.

Be sure you pay for it though. I hear that's how Obama's secret service got in trouble.

If all else fails, you weren't driving a Mazda6
