4-14-18 Gas Going Up?

Haven't been driving much lately and with a couple of different vehicles to drive I hadn't been to the gas station in about 3 weeks.

Can't believe how much gas has gone up since I last filled. Paid more for regular today than I did for Premium (different vehicle) 3 weeks ago. Anyone else notice this?

87 has now edged past the $3 mark where I am.

I suggest you monitor Gas Buddy. Useful information on pricing and trends.

You guys realize that Americans are hopelessly spoiled with cheaper gas than anywhere else in the world, correct?

Here in Canada, where we get our gas from the same refineries as Americans do (for the most part) and we are paying on average $5.00US/gallon of regular. Premium is easily $6.00US/gallon. Prices are also spiking here, and in British Columbia regular gas right now is over $6.00US/gallon.

I'm an American living in Canada and I have struggled over the years to accept that everything here is likely 33% more expensive than in the US. Considering the dollar up here is worth, on average, 25% less we also have to deal with that.

Enjoy driving while we can and while gas is still very affordable. In another 50 years, if you ask me, it is highly unlikely that gas will be anywhere near affordable like it is now, and that's if we're even still allowed to operate internal combustion engines then.

It's because the US and our allies just bombed Syria. Gas futures are more anxious than my 13 year old dog - the slightest disruption from the status quo and she freaks, kinda like gas prices right now.

I don't doubt certain OPEC countries with a vested interest in the region are affecting the prices as well.

I think about this very thing in the context of my classic hardware (62 Lambretta scooter, 73 CB350 cycle, and 55 MG TF 1500). I suspect that at some point the cost per gallon or a severe restriction on driving an internal combustion engine will render these machines to static garage art. Pretty sad to think about.

Not to get TOO political here but, that's because Canada (currently) believes in giving free stuff to lots of people at the expense of the rest of the people: to put it nicely.

Eh, Syria has become the default place to begin bombing for the last few presidents - nothing new here.

Besides, the US imports the vast majority of its oil from our relatives from the north and south
