While he wouldn't go on the shifter stuff, I was able to convince him to let me take his antenna base and leave a hole in his roof. Go figure. (someone snapped my antenna off last week and left a rusty stub that I have been unable to get out & even eBay wants more than $50 for a base)

I see in your signature that you have lowering springs on your "Want' list. Take a look at Eibach (my wagon springs are being delivered tomorrow); they have a number of sets on deep discount (less than 1/2 price) and may be the answer for you. $122 for a set of quality, vehicle-specific springs is pretty tough to beat.

Mazda 6 Wagon Springs, likely a better choice for your hatch than sedan springs with a 1.6" drop all around

or if you want the sedan set (1.5" front, 1.4" rear)

Mazda 6 Sedan Springs

Thanks, I’ve never looked at the eibach springs, but that is a really good price. When you get yours installed make sure to post some pics I’m curious to see how that drop looks it sounds perfect for what I want I just want to close the gap between the tire and wheel arch more I don’t like the huge gap not to mention that it’s uneven from the front to the rear

The rear cover is tricky to get off. I had to remove the vvt actuator and that finally allowed me to get it out of there. The fear of dropping the fastener into the engine was real!!

I have never done it before but if vertical clearance is the issue you could detach the left hand motor mount and lower it down a smidgen.
Good luck @bluedevil6

Did both valve cover gaskets today, everything looked fairly clean on the inside which was very reassuring for 161,500 miles

what kind of camera? i have a canon rebel t3

just FYI the front rims should always face the camera, not the tread. see attached (black car)

i got pretty good with taking multiple exposures and HDR in them together. real hdr, stacking the images. something to learn if you're looking for stuff to try. the PT in the other picture was not washed in 2 years. it wasn't even 1/4 that shiny in real life. i got good at photographing less than perfect rides (:

playing with the F-Stop setting is fun as well. you can add starbursts to lights or chrome (last pic)

i ruined my camera last week trying to clean somewhere off-limits
