If you just look at the housing there’s a big red “high voltage” sticker on the hids and the low beam bulbs are different, I haven’t looked at mine very much yet but there are what appear to be some leveling screws but idk what they are for yet

According to the '04 sales brochure, there wasn't a HID option so @waughoo would be most likely correct on the fact his car probably doesn't have the wiring.
@kalicious
I have to check the headlight, but at least on my G20 ones the manual screw was still there. You adjust your headlights with the manual adjustment for a 'base line' or zero position and from there the driver has adjustment positions from the switch. But its up to you how to change it. In theory the headlights you would take off from a salvaged car should have the lights in the ball park from Mazda. You have a GT so I think you have HIDs already?

I also always thought it was weird that Mazda offered both the integral Fogs and the external ones on the Gen 1s. I'm sure if you could make a hybrid out of a Gen1 and a Gen 1.5 hybrid with some work. I think @DJ Raydiate was doing something like that?

My 03 doesn't have the wiring there for it. Mine came with the fogs in the headlights and I had added the lower fogs that came with an aftermarket switch.

However, depending on one's wiring skills, I'm sure they could get the 1.5 lights to work on a 1.0. My headlight plug has 10 spots for pins in it. Currently there are 2 pins that are not being used. I'm wondering if those have something to do with the newer lights. Or maybe they used the now available fog light wiring spots for the leveling.

Here are my notes for my headlights/plug. This is looking at the plug as when you unplug the light. Sorry for my craptastic writing but you get it lol

Edit: I think number 3 is for the little bulb in the corner of my light that I don't use. Never knew it was there until last year.

My bad, I was thinking you had a 1.5 gen. But that wiring info should help @waughoo

Lol, it's ok. I have a true 1st gen lol. There are some things that I did notice earlier this week though. My airbag system was already wired for seat air bags. Just found the plug from the wiring side earlier this week. If I would have known that, I would have held off for different seats lol.

Thanks for the details. Looks like I'll need to do some reverse engineering: one of my favorite hobbies! I'm deep in the car pc/android auto adaptation right now, so the headlights are a ways off still.

Thanks both of you. I'll keep a lookout for the high voltage sticker. And thanks for the auto-brochures site, that's awesome! According to that, the HIDs were only standard on the 6s Grand Sport only.

Was out of town this weekend so no car work or salvage yard visits. Next weekend though looks good.

@kalicious Oops. Sorry....It was on Grand Touring in '07, as there was no Grand Sport then.

Today I bought a set of the OEM 18” wheels from the same 06 that I pulled the lights from
I also got the lights sanded and polished, I am going to clear coat them probably Wednesday when the weather warms up a bit
