Buying tomorrow.

I'm going to buy a 2009 Mazda 6 S D. 2.0l diesel.
It's a private owner has 67k miles.

I'm looking for advice on things to look out for?

Common faults?
Is it timing belt or chain? What are the service intervals?

Literally any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum!

Congrats on your future purchase!

Unfortunately, I know almost nothing about both the diesel variant of these cars and that generation. What I do know is that we all have timing chains (thank goodness).

Hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction.

Little more info/worries.

Had a lot of advisories on MOT. Then had it retested and all advisories disappeared.

I'm going tomorrow hopefully looking at new springs, new exhaust and new tyre.

As I said any other things to look for would be great.

Have you driven it yet?

If not, tell them you don't want it warmed up.

Open the hood, check out the belts, pully's etc. and then start the car. Check it out while it warms and then take it for your test drive.

Leave the radio off.

From 50 mph brake slowly to make sure there is no brake shimmy/warp.

Listen carefully, don't be afraid to ask questions.

For me, service records are a must.

Take your time. Looks like a good car, best of luck. Hope it works out for you.

Bought the car on checking the receipts. It has had the Cam belt changed 10k miles ago had dpf flushed.

Lots of service history. Overall pleased. It has lots of little marks all over the car but it is 11 years old and I only paid 2k.

Ordered new mats new seat covers buying some new alloys to restore and replace.
