2007 Mazda 6 ac compressor clutch won't disengage

So I replace my ac compressor and while running the clutch won’t stop spinning. The lights is out on my ac button that’s in the cabin of the car car so when I press it I can’t tell if the ac is on or not. The fact that it’s cold out doesn’t help either. What likely my problem?

Does it let you switch the recirculate function, if not theres a small computer on top of your hvac controls that might need to be replaced I had this same problem when I first got my 07

When the engine is off, can you move the clutch by hand?

The light inside doesn’t work to show me of the ac is on or off. At first the clutch was just locked on. Last night it slowed and now it just spins slowly and I haven’t tried turning it by hand

Now this is making it sound like theres a problem with the ac clutch itself if thats the case your only real option I think would be to replace the compressor, it sounds like you already did this but it is possible to get defective parts I would try what @jman1200 said about trying to turn it by hand with the car off

If it is spinning slowly (slipping) with the AC off, that clutch was not adjusted properly when installed and it is not releasing.
If the slippage stops when the AC is on, then that is the issue.
You need to remove the clutch and add very thin spacers to bring the clutch out a bit. Too much and it will slip when the AC is on and eventually burn.

A couple decades ago I had to replace the clutch's magnet and pulley's bearing on a Mazda 626. I learned that the clutch could be adjusted after going through issues similar to the ones described. On a brand new compressor, the clutch clearance should have been properly set at the factory, but...
