2009 headlights

I have a 2009 Mazda 6 and need to replace headlight assembly. There is significant cost difference between 2009-2010 and 2011-2013 headlights but they look identical. Can I purchase cheaper 2011 headlight assembly and install in my 2009? The cost difference is $200.

Make sure that you're getting the correct headlamps first, depending on the type of bulbs used. The headlamps used for halogen bulbs are different from the versions for HID/xenon bulbs, and may also be the reason for the price difference as well.

If they are the correct versions, then I'm 95% sure you can use a 2011-2013 in place of the 2009-2010. I've never tried that for myself, but the design and mounting points are identical IIRC...

The Mazda6 enters 2011 with a slightly different headlight and foglight design, along with a new 17-inch alloy wheel design. Also, upper trims (Touring Plus and Grand Touring) get new side folding mirrors with integral turn signals.

Most likely they'll fit but be aware there are differences.
