Newbie Saying Hi While Looking for Subframe Recall Updates :(!

Hey folks,

Browsed the forum a while but never made an account. Recently in my search for more info on the recent subframe recalls I figured now would be an opportune time to make an account!

Currently rocking an 09' Mazda 6 GT about 125,000 kms on it. In this past year I started learning how to do the regular maintenance and other bits for the car to save some money at the dealership and because I just love tinkering with things.

Been stuck in this painful Hyundai Elantra while waiting for updates on the recall. Last I spoke with them a few weeks back there was no ETA for completion but another manager said parts would be available end of the month or early Feb. Here's hopin! I want my car back.

Are you located in Canada?

I know that Mazda Canada has been buying back certain 2nd-gens due to the subframe issue, and the lack of replacement parts. You may wish to look into that...

That's true. I'm one of them. 2009 2nd gen with around 113,000 km. The car has to be immobilized and I accepted their offer and got a new 2018 GT. I had the possibility to wait for parts, but I wanted to change my car anyway so I took the opportunity.

Yeah, I am in the GTA area.

Contacted my dealership after hearing about other people getting offered buy backs or heavy incentives for new cars. Was basically told that they were offering assistance to some customers but were no longer doing so as of December 31st.

This was about a week into January, I had dropped my car off beginning of December and was never contacted or offered anything in between. Only communication was me following up when I had to renew my rental car agreement 30 days after the drop off.
