Recall 2.2 diesel engine problems
I bought a Mazda 6 diesel automatic in May 2016 and have just put it in for a recall which is described in the letter "Recall - Diesel Engine Concerns".
The receptionist said that they have not had any reports of problems with enginesof the year of manufacture of my car (2016) yet.
He said only software upgrade is required but in the recall letter a reference is made to, and I quote, "improved engine calibration software which improves NVH/noise refinement characteristics" and also, "powertrain control module to protect engine fault developing which in turn may lead to engine stalling."
This sounds to me that my 2.2D engine could be subject to the same fault that earlier 6's have succumbed to where I have read that a new engine would not be financially viable as this happens when the vehicle is older.
My question; what will happen should later on in the cars life I suffer this expensive problem. Will Mazda fix it for free, bearing in mind that they have known about this for years now. Or, should I get rid now (only 14 & half k miles) and get a petrol engine car.
Any insider/knowledgeable comments would be appreciated .
