winter tires

I recently bought a 2018 6GT with the 19" rubber. What downsized wheel/tire combination can I safely fit for winter use ? I was thinking of a 17" plain steel wheel and tire combo similar size to the standard GS. If I use the 17" OE sized wheel/tire combo will I have any brake/rotor interference issues ? My local Mazda dealer is trying to push me to keep the 19's which is a lot more $$

Thanks in advance folks

17" steel wheels with the stock-size tire should work fine. Just be sure that the steelies do clear the brake calipers.

They'll "upsize" you because they're more expensive, but since the brakes are the same for all models, there's no need to keep the 19" size for winter wheels/tires.

Tirerack also offers the option of 16" rims also, if that tells you anything...

^^ What he said.

I've seen at least one person on here go as small as 16" rims, but I don't know if the 2017+ brake clearance is the same as the 2014 - 2016. I personally run 17s with 255/55 tires for the winter and love them.
