Overfilling Gearbox Oil?

I just had my gearbox oil changed and I am seeing gear oil leakage. A very significant leakage. Went to another garage. Told them what happened. While they will check it this Friday morning, one mechanic suggests it might have been overfilled and the gear oil might have gotten out of the drive shaft. Is this a big issue? Could any seal be damaged by this time? Thanks.

How much oil did the first mechanic get out? Has it leaked before?

I have a hard time believing someone can overfill it so much that it causes issues.

Also, check the vent on top of the transmission, that lets out any air pressure inside the transmission case out. If the vent is clogged the transmission can become pressurized and cause leaks.
