Talking CPE MZR 2.3 DISI Elevate Turbo vs BNR MS367 Stage 3:

Hey guys. It's been a while since I posted on here, but it looks like I will have a little extra money to play with very soon. I've been interested in the BNR Turbo for some time now. The owner of BNR lives just a couple of miles from my best friend, and he's been super friendly answering questions. I realize the BNR Stage 3 would take a little fabrication, but the promised gains seem to be pretty great. http://bnrsupercars.com/

The CPE MZR 2.3 DISI Elevate Turbo seems to be pretty awesome as well with the promised power. No fabrication is always a plus, but not a deal breaker. It bolts right up and supposedly spools faster than our stock turbo. 10 psi more than our stock is great! http://www.therpmstore.com/store/p/6...ate-Turbo.html

I may be wrong, but I thought www.bnrsupercars.com had a little more information regarding psi, power, etc... but I don't see it anymore. Anyone see it?

Also, who has these turbo's? I have found a few videos on youtube with the BNR, but haven't found a thing for the Elevate Turbo. Not sure why that is?

I would love to hear some feedback on the two. CPE makes a great product, but after the stuff they pulled in the "standback pnp years"..... I'm slightly jaded. Spent way too much time and money trying to make that thing work (which never did), but that's another story....

Appreciate the feedback as always.

Don't get hung up on the "fabrication" part required by the BNRS3. All you need to do is buy a bit of hose to make a coolant line between the EGR housing and the turbo. It's easy and there are instructions and pictures on this and other forums.

I don't know anything about the CPE turbo, but I can tell you that I'm very happy with the BNR so far.

Thanks for the response buddy! So, you're really liking the BNR. If you don't mind me asking, what "stage" turbo did you go with? Is there any noticeable turbo lag vs the stock? What did you enjoy most about the swap. Any cons?

Thanks again btw.

Don't waste your time on CPE's turbo. There is a thread on MSF from a guy who tested the Elevate with his MS3 and didn't gain that much power and was shafted in the end by CPE. I forget why but he upgraded to the BNR. Also if you have a smoking turbo this one doesn't resolve that problem whereas the BNR does.

BNR reuses the exhaust housing from our ko4 but uses a gt28 turbine which is capable of over 400hp on the ms6 and is a direct drop in. Check out Tigrey's thread

BNR web site is working fine for me at the moment...

Here's a graph of my BNRs3 & 4 gallons of e85. Conservative timing & boost, along with basic bolt ons.
Heartily encourage the BNR, and honestly don't know anybody running the CPe.

FWIW the CPE is just a modified K04 using the same faulty seals that can & will smoke- they even note that on the webpage-
Quote:
Note: cp-e™ does not promise an upgraded turbo that will prevent the well-known “smoking turbo” issues
So, base price is the same, both require a core turbo. CPe has an almost $700 core price -vs- the BNR $200 core, and the BNR simply won't smoke since the CHRA is replaced with an entirely different, substantially better unit- actually only the hotside is reused and everything else is new/different.

Honestly, if you're swapping turbos and in that general budget area, why would you consider anything based on K04 CHRA?

BNRs3, GT or GTX28 series, even a GT or GTX 30 series is a much better option than anything K04.

I think the stock turbo spools slightly faster due to its smaller size. But that doesn't matter to me because the difference is not that noticeable.

The additional power after I spent time tuning it. And steady boost/power to redline.

I appreciate the follow-up guys. Very valid points. Definitely NOT going the CP-E route. Onward to the BNR
