Dead thread bump how did this turn out? I just had some dumb bitch on her cell phone rear end me in a rav4. Fucked my day all up. Damage isn't as bad as in the pictures. Stopped for a red light. Sitting there a few seconds, and then BAM my car gets ROCKED. Look in the rear view mirror, girl on her phone with her hand over her mouth. She came up and said "I'm sorry." I haven't had to put such a tight reign on my anger in a long time. I just looked down at the girl and said "Thank you, for totaling my car." She looked like she wanted to climb into a hole and die after that. My wife has whiplash, strained muscles in her neck. She should sue for pain and suffering.

If you keep it forever, fine.

But, people shopping for these cars don't want them if they have had major repair work. Your value will certainly diminish. Just fuck it. Hopefully its a goner. There's nothing more ridiculous than cut corners, and I'm assuming there is likely some uni-body damage resulting from that collision.

If you can get a decent check, then you can just get another, if you like the MS6 so much. Or, something better.
I was just thinking of something like this because my 2006 Speed6 is worth a lot more than the insurance replacement money, maybe I can add coverage .But good Speed6's are getting hard to find---Really. How do you like your SHO , they are really nice looking cars. Does the transmission shift the way you want. I was looking at one at a dealership , but they are over $50k--- very nice though. Oldvet

The SHO is pretty cool! It's a massive, massive car. It's so big and heavy, in fact, that if excessively big and heavy is a deterrent, just keep on shopping.
That aside, it's great. Does the transmission behave as one would want? Eh, not really. However, some of the greatest driveability improvement comes with an engine tune, as the TCM behavior is manipulated quite drastically through tuning solutions. Love the way mine shifts now, with the Livernois tune. It's downright raucous. But, let's be honest here...an automatic transmission always leaves something to be desired.
Furthermore, regarding its size and heft, it's alot to hustle around. However, in a straight line, it's quite a bit quicker than my Speed was. Even around corners, and making maneuvers, it's pretty surprising. Brakes well too. Again, and compared to the Speed6 even, what most hurts the SHO's driving experience is lack of a manual transmission.

There's tons of potential to unleash from the 3.5 Ecoboost, not just in the SHO, but in the pickup and Flex as well, with just a solid tuning solution.
Anywhere from 30-60 HP, and similar (or greater) tq gains, depending on which option you take. Plenty of 93 octane, tune only SHOs out there making high 12 second passes. I would fully expect mine to be in that region, with the Livernois tune.

Pretty solid car. Super comfortable. Been wearing out the AC seats lately, here in Texas. Also has ass massagers in both front seats. Mostly flies under the radar. Gets alot of comments, though. Thumbs up and such. "Boy, the Taurus has come a long way," that type of thing.

And as far as price. $50K, no way! Yeah, the MSRP is pretty high up there. But, they'll make a deal on these cars. In fact, you won't pay ANYWHERE near that, for a fully loaded SHO, if you get serious with a salesperson. In fact, when you play ball, they're a bargain not so dissimilar from a new Speed6, back in 2005/6.

If you're interested, you can PM me. I'd be happy to answer any more detailed questions. I think the SHO fits a particular niche buyer, but if you like it, chances are, you'll love it.
