Cabin Filter

Has anyone had a problem purchasing a replacement cabin filter for the 2009? I have been to 3 different auto parts stores and the filter they want to sell me is approximately 1 inch wider than the original filter. It will not fit.

I believe this is a common occurrence. Here is a similar thread.
http://forum.mazda6club.com/mazda6-a...placement.html

I, myself, went to my local Mazda dealer to get a replacement. When the guy brought it and rang it up, and said the price(way over priced), I mentioned I saw it online for a lot less, and thats all it took for him to knock off $7 bucks from the price. Not saying it will work, but, heck, it did in my case.

I just replaced mine this weekend. $15 at Advanced Auto Parts. They had to order it but I got it in 3 days.

Just to clarify:

You have a second generation North American Mazda 6?

If so, what is the brand and part number?

The reason I ask is because I keep hearing how the after market filters don't fit.

Tom

Yes I have a 2nd Gen North American Mazda 6. I had to go dig the box out of my recycle container.
The brand is Beck/Arnley & the part # is 042-2158

Thanks for the info. I'll need to replace the filter soon.

Update:

Rockauto also has the cabin air filter (Beck/Arnley #042-2158), and is currently $6.97. It's just over $12 with shipping, and the least-expensive price (with shipping) that I found.

Check out here.

Also, a word of warning: At my local Advanced Auto Parts store, the Purolator catalog lists C35643 as the correct cabin filter for the Mazda6 for all years (including 2009-up models). This is NOT the case. The filter does not fit. Checking out their website shows a Fram Fresh Breeze filter (part CF10372), but it's $21.99!

An exacto knife, a hot glue gun, and 10 minutes got that fucker...ahem...filter
in my car just fine... Yeah, I custom re-sized mine. Fits like OJ's glove!

I also dredged my custom filter in some cheap perfume, now my car
smells like French Whore! (<--Didn't REALLY do that, lol)

You should change your filter more often than 27,000 Miles (PICTURE)

I think I waited too long to change the filter.

27,000 Miles:

I think my A/C will be more efficient this summer, after the change.
