DIY: Parking Brake Adjustment 2009

09 mazda 6,after changing rear rotors and brake pads, ebrake does not work.
with ebrake applied I can still move the car.It probably needs some adjustment, anyone have any ideas on how i go about it.

well since my last post I've figured out how to adjust my emergency brake, for anyone with the same problem.

2009 mazda 6.

I removed part of the center console, just the center piece where the cup holder is (attached photo)
once that was out, you''ll see the adjustment nut next to the parking brake arm
I started the engine, pumped the brake 4/5 times, then shut off the engine.
turned the nut (10mm) clockwise almost a full turn
started the engine again with parking brake on and.... voila' ,wasn't able to move the car.
I did double check to make sure the wheel still turned with parking brake off.

turned out to be very easy once i figured it out, Good Luck

I used a thin putty knife to gently wedge up cup holder section in center console

pull up on mid section while pressing down to release clip on cover around gear stick

wiggle out,

then adjust nut next to parking brake
nods likes this.
