I drive about 2 miles "city" and 38 highway each day, with the occasionaly 10 mile city drive. I'm consistantly getting around 25.5......I have 2600 miles on the clock, and was getting right around 25 soon after I bought it. I'm hoping I'll hit over 26 by the 5000 mark

I drive between 55 and 70 on the highway, but there are a few stoplights I get caught at a lot for a minute or two. My average speed according to the OBC for a few months of driving was around 45

I have a 2009 Mazda6 4cyl with manual transmission. On first tank of gas, with mostly highway driving and going easy on the gas pedal, I got 28.9 MPG.

Gotta wait for warmer weather.The wife keeps using the remote start to warm it up and it's killing the milage total(14.4 L / 100 Km=14.4 l / 62 miles = 3.5 gallons / 62 miles = 17.7 miles / gallon )

I'm glad someone posted this topic.

I just bought the 09 Mazda6 sGT (2 days ago) and I was a little worried about gas mileage. I am coming from a Saturn Vue V6 (the hubby's car now)that got 18 miles to the gallon. I was wondering how the 6 compares to that in the real world.

I absolutely LOVE THIS CAR!!!. It's the 1st Mazda I've owned.

I keep checking the http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ website for 2009 V6 owners, but nobody is posting MPG. It would be helpful to post your MPG there.

It's pretty cool. I am posting my current (looking at a 2009 V6 this year) vehicles MPG and the site allows you to chart and follow your MPG. You can also leave yourself comments and the HWY/CITY ratio.

It is nice to see some real MPGs listed here. I was worried the car was going to be a gas drinker, but based on the amount of horsepower the MPGs are not too bad.

EXAMPLE... Look up the 1993 Ford Probe V6 2.5L Automatic to see the MPG of my current car.

I get about 18.5mpg according to the trip computer in my new car, but I have not been driving it to save gas (yet).

Oh and hi, I'm new to the forum and to driving Mazdas. ^-^

Thanks ^-^

And I take it back, when I was just on the road it had my average at 15.5mpg *shame*
...but when I had cruise control locked at 70mph it was showing 24.1mpg on the real-time display.

Oh and I had a fun experience a few minutes ago. I had it on cruise control and scooted by a BMW in the middle lane (I was in far left as usual). Seems the guy noticed I was a Mazda and decided his manhood couldn't handle being passed by a less expensive car. Well he downshifted and hit the gas. Flog me later, but I couldn't resist trying my new toy VS a BMW. I dropped to 4th and passed him within a few seconds, finally dropping back down to cruise speed after he was over 100 yards behind me. A few cars merged on to the highway and got in his way as he was catching up so he passed them on the left shoulder! I couldn't help but laugh as he drove by me again, expecting me to chase him.

I'm proud of my Mazda.
