more Products for the 3.0L (more power!!!)

o.k. i did a search and found nothing stating these 2 products so i am posting this to tell you all there is more to performance upgrades for the mazda 6 than just intakes and mufflers.

first product is the jet power module. stock number JET-68009 1996-2002 Mercury Sable 3.0L. now the great thing about this, is that the 3.0L in the Mercury is the same 3.0L in the 6 same electronics computer and ports, ford is notorious for that. check out www.summitracing.com.

the next product is universal for all vehicles. it is an exhaust cut-out , stock number MRG-5424 also from summit racing. what this does is it is sort of a y shaped pipe that is welded to the header before the cat with one end of the y is sealed off. now when you want more HP you simply hit a switch and the sealed part of the y shaped pipe opens up allowing the exhaust fumes to escape without going through all the restricted cat and mufflers. WARNING: this is not legal emissions, but all you have to do is hit the switch again and suddenly you can pass all emissions test in all 50 states (as long as everything else on your vehicle is legal) check them both out .

The exhaust on the 6s's restriction isn't the cat's, its the exhaust manifolds.

As for a jet power module...Its your engine, why don't you test it first :).

I guess you haven't read up on the 6s enough to know its not a normal ford duratec.

hmmm does the jet power module have anything to do with the ECU... cause it isnt the same, and it will not work...

The PCM for the 6 is CAN, not OBD2... it was the first CAN product from ford. If any of the power module has anything to do with the PCM of the Mazda6 it will not work, watch out for your info if it is.

The precat's are integrated into the exhaust manifolds.

As shown by duratec performance's headers...modifying the catback (where the switch would most likely flip off) showed very little gain, while replacing the exhaust manifold/downpipe (removing precats) showed upwards of a 20 WHP gain.

I hate those damn precats. I bet they did this on purpose to bring out more power for the US Mazdaspeed Version.

whoa. I stand corrected about the exhaust cut off!! that is the craziest looking set up i have ever seen, you are right crossbow, there is no place to put the cut-off,

but in my defense on the engine, find a 2002 mercury sable3.0L and pop the hood. then take the engine cover off your 6 and look at them the only difference is where the battery is located. i could be wrong in this too! but i don't think ford changed the 3.0L that drasticly in one year just to put it in the new mazda 6, it would cost too much for ford to do that.

thank you for the diagram it will help in my quest. i am not saying that i am an engine or performance guru, i am just trying to find products that will work. you proved me wrong in one. but i will try the jet power module, and we will see(maybe and maybe not)

Ya Spawn,

This isn't your average ford duratec. Call it a Ford/Mazda hybrid if you will.

Here's a url on the engines posted by chikoo.

http://www.carseverything.com/content/article/1346.3/

The mazda6 is basically a totally new platform. Its using technology which is absent in many older designs, including a wild emissions system, and some weird and funky pressurization systems.

As with all new models, we will have to spend time testing and trying older car swaps...before announcing to everyone that they just work.

Failure to do so could result in non functional or destroyed engines. And nobody wants that.

Ok, we have 4 CATS So we could cut 3 off (PreCats) and keep the 4th. Then get a 20hp increase? Shouldnt we also pass CARB legal and emissions laws?
