smart key fob battery dying in 1-2weeks
Apologies in advance for the long post and thanks if you take the time to read it!
I've had this issue since I bought the car 6 months ago. Really frustrating!!
2012 mazda 6 2.2d sport 180bhp. UK car.
Basically, the fob battery never lasts more than 2 weeks. Its a smart proximity key, never has to leave my pocket etc.. I've tried every brand of battery, from numerous sources even direct from mazda, same story.
I've recently got a 2nd key fob (only 1 smart key came with car for some reason) thinking this would solve my issue, but no, battery lasted 4 days...
Also tried using an RFID pouch while the key was in the house thinking it was being drained somehow. No joy, which led me to believe that it must be draining it while it's in the car with me somehow.
I've read it could be the keyless control module? Would anyone agree or have any idea if this could be the case? Can I just straight swap another one in or will it need to be programmed by mazda? I've found it above the glove box, is there an ariel of sorts on this that could be damaged or anything, this is wrecking my head!!
Greatly appreciate any input or opinions.
