Funny you mention this....mine just started acting up the other day. When I first turn the car on the "Bose Sound" logo comes up and part of the "S" in sound does not light up. Well, I thought I was seeing things because the next time it fully lite up. Well a few days later it did it again! Now at 62xxx miles.....no warranty. BAD MAZDA, no cookie!

I have the same problem however I think it has something to do with the connection because if you apply pressure to the top of the display or even press on the screen with moderate pressure it will fill in the missing pixels. The unit itself is "loosened" its not having enough pressure put on it from the chassis at least thats what I could see anyway. I was going to try and take it out however I couldn't figure out how to get behind the console to check on the actual wiring. Any tips?

I had the same issue. My car sits in the hot sun all day, while I am in class. When you turn it over, the entire display is all red and nothing comes on. After 20-30 minutes of driving around, it comes back. Haven't taken it in yet, but will sometime soon.

Mine went in for this yesterday. New display is on order and should be here next week. Mine had been fine for over 2 years, then over the last couple months I went from 1 to 2 to 3 columns that are dead intermittantly. I happened to have 2 our when I pulled into the dealer so he just looked in, said "Yep it's broken... we'll have to replace the display" and that was pretty much it.

Hopefully the new display will be better since another 2 years will have me out of warranty.

Interesting. Just did a search and found this post. I'm having the same exact problem. Guess it's time to call the dealer.

do you know how much it is going to cost you to get it replaced?

$363 CDN for the part at Mazda...brutal. A 22" LCD monitor costs as much. I will be looking at junkyards but the one I found was $250 CDN so also bruta. Will keep on looking...did anyone ever managed to get it fixed somehow?
