i would like to set up my vehicle so that i can turn off my gauge pod as well as my interior LED lighting that i have installed. what i would like to know is, i have seen two switches that i am looking to buy. one has 2 prongs on the back of it, while the other has 3 prongs on the back of it. why is there a difference? and which should i get? thanks in advance!

Does the one with the 3 light up?
If so the third would be for the bulb, OR

Is the switch On-Off-On... if so the middle is common, the top and bottom to the circuit. Or it could be On-On...

there are many choices here I'm affraid... more detail is needed to answer your question... do you have a brand name or part number of the switches?

Here's the first switch I was looking at....[attachmentid=14143]

Switch on your accessories with style. This futuristic looking switch features an illuminated mini rocker with a bright red illumination.
Shipping: .2lb
Warranty: 3 months

I cannot find the picture of the other one... but was described the same was as previous post i just made... only had two prongs and looked almost identical.

Well, I'm pretty sure that the 3rd terminal is for the light in the switch. If the 2 terminal switch was not ilumminated, this is the differance.

...Are you ordering these switches? I'd advise going to an automotive store to purchase such a thing. Because if you are unsure, you could ask a costomer service person.

Look here, maybe this'll help you:

http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea...sus.dll?Filter
http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dk...822&Site=US
http://rocky.digikey.com/WebLib/Cherry/Web...LR%20SERIES.pdf

On that last link scroll down to page 2 and look at the diagram for LRA22H2BBRLN ... the diagram should be the same for the switch you were looking at.

Hope that helps...
