Has anyone investigated the difference in the headlamp assemblies between NA-spec cars versus JDM or European versions? I know that for the RHD market the headlamp pattern will be reversed to shine over and up towards the left so as not to blind everyone coming towards you when you are driving on the wrong, er, I mean left side of the road

On my g/f's 02' Beetle, there is actually a selector switch in the headlamp assembly to reorient the reflector for RHD or LHD vehicles. I haven't seen anything similar on the Mazda. I've also know that some vehicles in the US had plastic lenses for the headlamps...which were glass in other countries due to differences in the law. I just know that my nice clear plastic lenses will eventually fade and scratch so I'm hoping that there is something better available....even a laminate to put over the lenses would be nice to have (sigh).

I have never head of a switch to change LHD to RHD lights for the States. But I could see how it is useful in Europe since in the UK, it is RHD and in Germany it is LHD.

As far as a laminate to protect your headlights: Griot's Garage
