While installing an Ipod interface, I found this today hanging by wires inside the glove box. Can anyone tell me what this is and if it's something that shouldn't be just hanging around?

Some sort of plug for accessory Cassette/MD players? Wild clueless guess.

It wouldnt be a plug for the Cassette/MD cause thats on the back of the radio, where the Auxmod plugs in.

can't answer because i don't know but i did see the same plug when i was changing my a/c filter!
it wasn't plugged into anything either.. i was also worried but i have the base 6i so i'm sure there are alot of extra wires that are not being used...

if you have any accessories that are not working than you should investigate further..

To race or to cruise on the right lane, that is the question!

yep, I do. It could be the sensor, I guess... just kind of odd that it is just hanging there.
