Kinda wish I would have done this retro back when I was supposed to. Someday though.

Well, I know where I'll be buying my HID retro kit from. Luckily for my credit card, the ballasts are currently out of stock. Definitely worth making the two right hand projectors work to get the ECE color and cutoff.
[/b]

ECE owns the DOT. I like the ballast with built in igniter a lot better than the older OEM versions that are 2 peice.

Can you elaborate a little more on what you did about running the wire into the headlight? Do you have a pic of how you made that happen?

Nice thing about this kit is all the parts are new, rather than pulled out of a wrecked Bimmer or something. Man I want this BAD, but leather seats are first.

Its too dark to take a pic, but I can try to explain. You cant drill a hole in the center of the dust cap. The connector wont fit because the wire will be coming out horizontal. So instead I trimmed a notch on the outer edges of both caps on oppsoite sides; just enough to able to turn the cap over the wire and have the wire exiting out from the side. Since doing a notch, it wont be sealed perfectly so what I did was patch the whole outer edge of the cap with strip caulking and also really good right where the HID D2S connector wire exiting from the side of the cap. I will take a pic tommorrow. I still have the plastic wheel well trimming removed so I can take a descent pics int he daylight.

Also I had to extend the wires from the low beam h1 connecotrs to reach the relay for the harness. it was ran along by the D2S wire.

A pic would be great. I'm gonna do this soon, I keep looking at that pic of the output from the drivers side and... wow... gotta have it

Great work Mazda 6s. I'm about two weeks away from doing my retrofit. Just waiting for my bulbs and ballasts to arrive. They're E46 DOTs, though.

I'll see how I like my DOTs and if not, I may sell them and get those ECE's.

Congrats on the install. The output does look pretty amazing. I am also working on an ECE retro. I am still getting all of the parts together, mostly for the wiring harness right now. I am going to try to do it without drilling any holes in the headlight housing, but I won't know for sure until I get there.

Just like zoomzoomfan, it will not be for at least 2 weeks until I can probably do it. Parts are being dropped off at my house like crazy.

I'll take pictures when I start working on it.

Unless you gen the 2nd genration ballast with the separate igniter, your gonna have to drill holes. I was looking for a way not to bu the D2R connector is over sized and my igniter is built into the ballast.

This is the ballast.igniter your gonna need if your avoiding drilling holes in the dust cap:

Thanks for all the comments.

I'm surpised at how many people are shocked with retro ECE HID on the 6. It's gotta be bay far the easiest retro ever. I thought more people would have retro'd out their cars aready.

Yes, you are right, I will have to cut 1 hole and that will be for the rectangular window underneath the headlamp, where the ballast will go. I will be using the Bosch / AL Ballast, same as t_mo_t and robinlb used. But I will not drill any other holes in the housing to run the power from a new harness.
