The apecone kit will not work. It's a rebased HID capsule, not the standard D2S that the Boshce projectors use.

ECE has a clear lense, so output isnt really affected.
DOT has a fresnal lenses to scatter the light more.

Both though are aimed to give you a wider field of view though.

If its color you want, your gonna get it with the retro fit. If you ever looked at a pic of an ignited HID arch, the low sides are the ones that give the color. The sheild is what blocks these colors from being displayed and to focus the light on the road only. But the colored light still makes it around the sheild and the angle of the beam helps it to be visible to oncoming traffic. Bending the sheild or modifying its position just let more of the colored light to escape.

In the end, what ultimately determines the colored cut off is the design of the bowl, lense, and sheild. For optimal visibilty and color, I'd definetly go with a retro. It just makes more sense.

The reason why the Bosche projectors are so popular on the 6 is not the output, but the ease of the installation and fitment. The projector simply just bolts into the OEM projector bracket in our headlights, thus retaining all headlight aiming points and full functionality. You can make better HID projectors work, its just takes more time and fabrication to do so.

Good luck though. Hope my 2 cents help

will these Valeo, and Stanley projectors fit into our housing the orange bracket? i always thought they were a diffrent size compared to the PNP E46/Audi TT Projectors....
[/b]
No, not easily at least. If someone is willing to spend alot of time and money to fabricate a custom bracket, then you could fit a Valeo or Stanley projector in there. I just gave him an example of how to get the most color without sacrificing light output, but it will take some work.

Teamwork is essential. It gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.

Sure it will, he said he ordered the Apexcone D2S HID kit. That'll work just fine with the Bosch projectors. Actually it's a good way to go, because you get the plusses of the retro and the lifetime warranty on the HID components. I've considered going this route myself.

hmmm.... first... ECE shoots further, DOT shoots wider IIRC... but ECE gives lotsssssssss of flicker IMO....

xtec/apexcone D2S are IMO rebased bulbs, thus i guess they will fit the D2S hole if they have it in that size... i remember somebody retro'd a E55/Maxima prj in his 6... mind that that's a bi-xenon, so with that solenoid, it should be much bigger than the bosch e46... IIRC, e55 is a stanley made prj.... cant remember, didnt really research this kinda stuffs anymore...

then again, back to my opinion, aftermarket HIDs are really much inferior to OEM xenon systems.... yeah sure they do lifetime warranty, but many of the TO6ers had they balllasts replaced in like 2-3 months of usage.... so if you have the time to take off ur bumper and replace the ballast every 3 months, go ahead... it's a good deal for money, but not for time.... IMO..

.....you went with 8k? woa. Why 8k? the most I would have done would have been 5k. Defintely post up some pics. ECE retro fit is already brighter than the stock HID's.
