try clear guard overlays (www.clear-guard.com) over top some clear sidemakers. they apply directly to the outside. i'd check to see if your state allows red sidemarker lights (most do NOT).

or you could try a spray tint like nite shades.

SOCAL714GUY: Thanks for the idea. Of everyone's options i feel that would be the most sound. I have a good buddy who has down body and pait work for my family for years who i am going to bounce that off of.

SRV110: #1. You are welcome. It is my pleasure to have done what i have done.

#2. Nope. never been pulled over for them. There is an intersection under construction near my house that i go by everyday with a cop directing traffic and he has not said a word. Been pulled over several other times and not had a thing said about them even when i have my emergency flashers on in the traffic stop. Now that i have said all this i am going to get a fix it ticket for it.

I was thinking about taking the lenses apart on the clear side markers and treating them the same way people black out their headlight assemblies.*

good luck. i tried opening up one of my old amber sidemarkers and the thing wouldn't budge. even tried baking for a little. unlike the headlights, they are held together by a different type of glue that is a royal PITA.

Anybody try opening up their clears? I want to but have never come close to trying that.

well i was going to, after i had screwed around with the oem amber ones. but after i saw how difficult it was, i decided to let them be. (i also check my clear sidemarkers to see how they were put together, and they appear to be sealed with the same sort of adhesive)

That's what I figured. Crap. Maybe some day I'll order an extra set to play with. Don't feel like throwing away 40 or 50 bucks quite yet.
