anything that blue... is not OEM

The blue could be the result of the cutoff beam. If its blue looking straight toward it.... then its not OEM...

and by the way the kelvin ratings for HIDs are totally innaccurate and vary GREATLY by manufacturer. Just compare the 6k McCulloch to 6k Xtec... HUGE difference.

So keep that in mind before buying

The stock maxima hids were around 4200-4500k (cant remember) and the housings were not projectors. Compared to the 8000k im running now I think the visibilty difference is minimal at best, but the edge of course is to the stock hids.

I dont think theres enought difference between the 2 to attempt a full retro-fit imo.

Yes, true, but IMO i can see the signs ~1km away.... not that it will light up the whole road that far, but i can see the road signs reflected by my light..... and maxima will glare like hell if you are driving in front of it...

that, my friend, is not stock..... you sure he got the 330i? or 325i with optional xenon light? cz that is NOT OEM D2S bulb.... it's probably have the same ballast, ignitors, and projectors like the stock's one and changed the bulb to higher rating... i m thinking it should be 8000K

And it's not the cutoff beam, as for you to see the cutoff blue/purple beam, you have to go further away from the car, and you can only see them if you are aiming the camera lower than the prj's cutoff beam..... see my sig and you'll see the cutoff blue beam... it's not done properly , but you know what i mean....

Yes, as far as the xtec kits, it's the best HID kit i've seen so far, with the bulb shield to reduce glare.... that's what i call quality... but i havent seen any 6 in my area that has the xtec kit..... so i dont know whether they'll glare..... i've seen a mazda3 with HID/retrofit in it, and it gives out the flicker and everything..... and since mazda3 club are sponsored by xtec as well, i m assuming that the mazda3 i saw has the xtec kit...... it's nice... and btw, mazda3 has Valeo-"style" projector in it, so it's gives out less glare..... i think......

you can see my before and after pics at this directory on my website

they are called beforeafterxx.jpg (duh) and the top is always the before.

keep in mind that pictures don't always show (in fact, rarely show) the true difference you will get. there is so much that has to do with shutter speed, film speed (if conventional camera), angle, etc. i tried to take several different shots to show the difference (which it does), but take everything you see online with a grain of salt.
