Unhappy

are there any additional benefits from removing the shield from the front of the projectors other than reducing glare??...does it change the beam pattern or light output???....would it make the cut-off more blue????

From my reading of the other threads on this subject, it reduces the amount of light hitting road signs. Now that is not a big deal for some, but for others (myself included) I like to light up road signs. Is the beam pattern affected? Yes, but its the part that doesn't hit the road. Does it alter light output? I wouldn't see how. As far as color, if you look at the pics by people who've done it, the removal does not change the color.
Re-read those posts and you'll find the answers you seek.

Yeah. I screwed up my original set when I removed them and I needed a set when I go to sell the car. Thanks!

I agree with Dave. Many have done it tho, but I've stayed away from the whole HID/glare thing because I don't want to blind, and I don't want to lose street sign visibility either. I'm still a firm believer that the only way to go HID is to retrofit. Doesn't cost much more, and it's the real thing. I've just been unable to justify the cost, and now I've bought a bike that's gonna consume my time/money for awhile.

I did the mod. The cutoff remains the same. The light output remains the same. The glare is reduced big time. I was able to aim the headlights higher (and I still did not annoy oncoming drivers) to illuminate more of the road ahead of me and to be able to see the signs on the side of the road. I love the color of the reflections that the road signs give. I recommend this mod if you have a HID conversion kit.
