i have LED in my rear signal lights... ordered from autolumination.com
it came with 30 Lights on each bulb and there super bright red. only down fall was having to install a load resistor to both of them, from keeping it flash too quick.
ill take pictures when i get my camera back.

Hello everybody,

Has anyone come across 7443 LED bulbs that have a separate circuit for braking and parking? Let me explain what I mean by this...

I have the autolumination SMT Tower II 24 LED in the 7443 size for my brake/tail lights and there is not enough variance between brake on and brake off. It would be nice if half of the lights were dim when the tail lights were on and then all of the lights came on at full brightness if the brakes were applied. I know that this would be more work for the bulb manufacturers, but I think this is what would be needed for the brightness to be correct when compared to the two filament bulbs. Even running the LEDS at a lower voltage is not the same as half-3/4 on and dim.

Has anybody had any luck with LED backup lights? I tried the 906/921 Superstar as backup lights and they were a joke. There is definitely not enough light emitting off of them. My little LED MAG light puts them to shame. Tracy, from autolumination, suggested these.[/b]
or all the outer ones ON in park mode , then in brake mode - the outer + inner all light up bright bright - something like my Rings Concept that Kevin is fabricating (see othe thread in this section)

Thanks for the input everyone. Maybe I will look into wiring the inner tails off of the middle brake light. I thought about designing my own LED bulbs to do what I want. I even have the acess to the tools at work. But after working a long day I don't want to be designing a tail light bulb. I got this response back from autolumination...

"All dual circuit leds that we sell fully light on both modes. You may be able to find some old style leds where they only light some in dim, and all in bright, but current technology light all in both modes."

I believe that LED companies went to the current setup because it was cheaper and easier to produce. Even though it is not safe and the "old style leds" are what they should be selling us. It is very cheap to just add a resistor to the one circuit and be done with it.

However, LEDs are very bright and they need to have a slightly more complex circuit that will disable some of the LEDs and enable all of them at full brightness when the brakes are applied.

So now I have to decide whether I send the $72 in bulbs back or try to modify them to get them to work the way that I desire. Maybe if I add a second resistor it would be enough.
