for you guys installing Guage overlays : this is only if you have to remove the needles some overlays slip over the gauge needles

I had halo gauges similar to these on my last car , i had pulled the needled out with a fork , im not posative it will work the same on this car . and the problem with that is putting them back in to and get the correct readings on the guages .
i will test this when i get a chance . place the spikes of the fork behind the post of the needle , now pull the neddle toward the steering wheel . it shouldnt take too much force to do it . like i said i havnt done this to the mazda 6 yet so do it at your own risk . i will edit this post once i do this myself

there is a diognostic check for the insrument panel , i just checked my mazda 6 V6 to verify this and here is what you do .

1)put the key in the ignition
2)push and hold the trip marker button under the mileage gauge
3)turn the key to get acc . power on the guages , dont start the engine tho
4)keep holding the trip marker button untill the you see test on the mileage screen
5)push and release the button until you see the number 12
6)wait a few seconds and you will see the speedometer needle go to the last line of the speedometer then back down to 55 . and it will hold there .

write down the numbers

do this and then you have the correct numbers your needle should fall on your speedometer . now do the same for the rest .

speedo test #12 : my car to last line of speedo then to 55 .

tach test #13 :my car was past the last line of the tach then back to 3000 rpm

fuel test #23 :my car Full, half, empty . it fell exactly on the lines

heat test #25 :my car H , then middle , then C . it fell directly on the lines

the results are from my car your car might be different . if you do mess with the guages make sure you note the results from your car so you can return them to the way they were if you mess somthing up

some of the tests have 3 needle settings so wait a little bit and make sure the needle doesnt move any more to get the correct numbers needed to reinstall the needles

when you reinstall them it should fall on those numbers , when reinstalling them dont push them all the way in just enought to hold there . that way you dont have to go crazy to reajust them if you placed them wrong

i dont know exactly what each number does as i havnt kept a record of it but if you go through each number you will see lights flashing , like the check engine light , the light over the ignition . it just goes and checks the instrument panel so a service tech can isolate a problem

i'm happy to say i'm done and she's all better now!! However, one question for ya - when i turned up the knob on brightness for the overlays it shocked the shit out of me, is this normal? i have it turned down now but i don't want to blow anything up or catch on fire while i'm drivin down the road. lol

cool! can you post pics in the exterior modifications section ( if you haven't done so already) on what they look like day, night, and when you turned up the brightness knob.

Yup! It helped a lot!! I posted pics as soon as I was done (I was pretty excited). Not really sure where I put them though?!??! Owell, they are always in the garage and on my domain too. I think they are in the interior mods section under the thread about ebay, I didn't want to post them everywhere.

Ahh, what the heck, I'm so proud, here they are again.....
Sorry they are kind of dark, something is wrong with my stupid camera - too much flash or not enough. Anyhow....
