Ok here's the situation...I live in Austin right now and I travel back and forth from Austin to Houston (about 3 hour drive) every weekend. The mileage has been a pain in the ass and i'm due for my next oil change and its only been a month since the last. The brakes have also begun to squeel now (not sure if it's the temperature affecting them or if the pads need to be changed). so maybe the trips are taking a toll on my car prematurely?

The thing that's bugging me is that when I got back to houston one night after eating dinner one of my headlights didn't fire up but the parking light in that housing did. At first I thought it might have been a glitch or something because I installed aftermarket HIDs so i turn off the car and start it up again then turn on the lights and everything was fine. the next day i noticed one of my 12"s in the trunk wasn't firing so i checked my wiring and my amp but everything was fine again after i restarted the car. and then yesterday night i noticed my subs only started firing after i start playing a song for about a minute and a half into it. i tried different types of music and the same thing happened.

What should i do? thanks.

Hey man....I'm no electrical engineer but...if you use the same power source too many times....you might not have enough juice for everything.

I agree with Kaynor. If you're pulling too much power out, that'll happen.

i am an electrical engineer and I DISAGREE with kaynor!

ok no I am not, I just hate him....

I doubt an amp and HIDs would be able to pull enoughh juice that the electrical systetm in general would act that way.
I'll ask around

You're such a hater! haha. How much power are the HID's and Amp withdrawing in our case?

I was under the impression that HID's actually draw less current than stock. HERE is a good article talking about how to calculate the current draw from an amplifier. Could be helpful.

I am a electrical tech and yes your amp and subs can draw to much power off your batt. and your alternator can not recharge it fast enough. I have ran into a problem kind of like this before with an older car I owned. My lights would dimmer thin brighten whenever I cut my car on or whenever my bass hit. Try a better batt is my suggestion.
