Green "Headlight on" indicator light and electro-gauge nighttime intesity settings

I have read on here that a lot of you are annoyed by the green "headlight on" indicator. I WAS too. What really annoyed me though is that with the lights on, you only have two options for the brightness of the electrolumescent gauges,,, either REALLY dim, or whatever they are set on for daytime (really bright for me). I wanted to have all the coices in brightness at night that i do in the daytime, so i figured cut the wire going into the gauges that tells the cluster your lights are on. I found it by looking at the wires going to the dimmer switch for the dash lights. It is green with a red stripe. Just a snip and some tape over exposed wires and presto, (lol) no more green headlight on indicator light (which we dont need cause they turn off automatically and we can just look at the switch), I have the same brightness level choices as i do without the lights being on, and, as an added bonus, I dont have the lights on buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz telling me the lights are on. The door opened chimes are still there.

Hope some of you might find this info usefull.

another little feature you may not know...

if you accidently hit the 'unlock' on your keyless pad while the car is locked and nobody opens a door, then the car locks itself again in about a minute...

That is a cool little feature but can be a pain if you are getting close to the car and unlock it from far away... sometimes when you get to the car the doors are locked again. Cooler than not cool tho.

Replying to Topic 'Green

Uhmm...

Last time I looked my electroluminesent gauge cluster was infinitely dimable via a rheostat on the dash board. The push switch in the cluster is only used to select between day (full on bright) to night time (dim from full bright to full dark) illumination when the lights are on. System defaults to full bright when the lights are off.

Other than the green light thing, am I misunderstanding something here?

yea thats right it is, but at the brightest level it was much lower than i would have liked it to be... to me or maybe just my car, i dont know, it was way to dim even with the dimmer turned all the way up. now i can adjust the levels of brightness independent of the rest of the dash lights.

How does this mod affect the LCD display for the radio/AC? When you turn the lights on, does the LCD still dim?
