Projector location in regards to the reflector assembly?

Just noticed on my car today that the driver's side projector seems to be set back about 1/2" further in the assembly than the passenger side projector. When I look at the gap between the reflector assembly and the projector lens I see about 3/4" of a gap on the driver's side. And when I look at the same gap on the passenger side I see just a bit more than 1/4". Is this normal? Should the driver's side projector lens be set back further into the assembly than the passenger's side projector? Is there an adjustment to move it forward or backward?

check my webshots account for a pic of each of the projectors so you can see what i'm referring to. its quite obvsious that the driver's side projector is set back a good 1/2" more than the passenger side. maybe it has to do with the way it is adjusted or something? it just seems odd that its back so far. i would tend to think that some of the light is not making it out onto the road and instead is being shot in behind the reflector housing. would have made a lot more sense to have the projector more snug against the reflector housing...

Just when I was starting to get bored with the topics here!! This one is INTERESTING: BOTH of mine are set back like your driver's side! It's getting dark here now, but I'm off tomorrow so I'll take a closer look and try and figure out what's going on. Good catch!

Have you ever adjusted your beams at all? I've adjusted mine numerous times, especially after installing HID's. I'm thinking maybe that has something to do with it? Maybe one of the adjustments actually moves the projector forward and backward? I'm too scared to fiddle with it now because it took me a long time to get them aimed exactly as I wanted them. So one of you guys gets to be the guinea pig. :D

i have fiddled with the beams before, but i'm pretty sure that adjustment only moves the bulb up and down, not back and forth...but i will check when i have time

Didn't have time today to try and figure this out, but I did notice that on my Miata, both sides are set back just like my 6.... gotta be a reason for it.

just curious, how do you adjust the projectors? My passenger side light aims at the ground and gives a really bright spot and the driver side disperses the light. So, how do I go about adjusting this?
