My install write-up for the XenonFactory Philips/Polarion kit

Alex, from XenonFactory, was supposed to post this on their site a while ago but hasn't done it yet. Anyways, maybe the mods. should make this stick so everyone can access it w/out searching and/or perhaps add it to the "How To" forum or something? Here ya go:

*Before performing this modification, please remove the negative (-) battery cable from the terminal to eliminate any
risk of electric shock*

After you have the headlights removed from the car,
the first thing to do is remove the dustcaps and
then remove the stock H1 bulbs. After you remove
the bulb, go ahead and remove the other wire that
is connected to the base of the bulb socket (this
wire is attached to the base using a female
connector). Now, drill a 1" hole through the middle
of the dustcap. Slide the HID capsule and wires
with male connector ends through the hole, then
secure the rubber grommet in the hole you drilled
to make sure it's dust/water tight. Next, you'll
need to trim down one of the male connectors that
are attached to the wires you put through the
dustcap. It doesn't matter which wire/connector
you choose but the one you trim is going to connect
with the female connector of the wire you took off
the bulb socket. You need to trim the connector to
make it more narrow. The best way to do this is
trim a bit, then test fit and repeat until you get
the correct size. Once that connector is trimmed
and connected, connect the remaining wire/male
connector to the wire that came off the back of the
original H1. Now install the HID capsule into the
socket. It's a tight squeeze but it'll go. The
spring loaded clamp may give you a little trouble
as well but it will clamp. Re-install the dustcap
and repeat these procedures for the other
headlight. The rest of the installation is simply
just plugging in connectors with their
corresponding mates. Find a good ground for each
ballast (using the shorter wire that has a ring
terminal), and make sure to mount the ballasts in
secure, dry locations. Finally, connect the last
remaining wire from each ballast to the positive
(+) battery terminal, reconnect the negative (-)
battery cable to the battery and you're finished.
Make sure all of you connections are tight and a
wrap of electrical tape around them should be
applied to avoid them coming loose when hitting
bumps.

Kyle, do you have any pics? If so, you should insert some and submit this to a mod for review as a sticky. That's just a suggestion...

Dave, the only pics I have of the install process I posted in my original post about my HIDs. I'll talk to colin via AIM to see what he wants to do.

That's a good idea. I was just thinking it would be nice to be able to consolidate of bunch of these how-tos in one area.

Kyle,
Was the HID kit you bought an older version? I thought the newer versions are direct plug and play now. The kit I bought last year was direct, just unplug the female power and ground wired lugd from the halogens and replug them to the 2 male spade lugs on the Xenon bulb harness. No additional grounding to battery or chassis ground from the ballast.
Also about 10 secs into your vid, there is a dark spot at the center of the beam pattern. The cutoff should be somewhat straight. Might want to check to see that your bulbs' return wire are located at the bottom or top (depending how your bulbs were manufactured). Or maybe your projector units could need adjustment/alignment. Could possibly have happened when you removed the headlight housings?
