Bye bye SilverStar...

Well, my left SilverStar finally blew after less than 4 months....

Anyone know if HID bulbs last a long time? I'm definitely upgrading to HIDs in the future, probably doing the group buy on this forum. The bulbs are so expensive when you need to replace them.

Also, anyone know if maybe the Mazda HIDs found on the new Mazda 3 will fit in our 6?

The phillips set (that has a group buy setup) through xenondepot has a 3 yr warranty.

Hows that?

I was looking at the McCulloch HID kits... I'm cheap. Hehe... I know they only have a 60 day warranty. I was wondering what the average bulb life is for most HIDs.

Not sure myself...I think 3000-4000 hours?

If your worried about life expectancy, why not buy the set with a 3 yr warranty for a bit more money?

If it's over 3,000 hours, then the 3 year warranty wouldn't be necessary (of course, I guess you'll never know if other crap happens). It's just so much more... But it is a dependable brand... Ah, the dilemma!

the group buy is through xenonfactory.com. the 1 year polarion + 2 years warrenty from xenonfactory is correct though.

xenondepot wouldn't give me a better quote even with 25+ people participating.

the McCulloch HID kit isn't run off the battery with relay switching either, so you have to worry about melting your stock wiring/blowing your ballasts during turn-on and warmup states.

1 person that participated in the McCulloch HID gb had a ballast go bad...the guy that organized the gb tried to help him, but he can only do so much...the vendor pretty much dicked him over and shortened the warrenty...
