Does it happen all the time? I noticed in this car that if I slip the clutch a bit to much you get this terrible smell that shoots right into the car. I do not get it much now that I am used to the cars clutch and tranny, but when I first started driving it it would happen about every 2 times I took off. LOL

^^rrhunt, that's normal. You were riding the clutch :(.

As for the smell, I got it. Anytime I used the A/C with the dash vents, it smelled like anus. It was definitely due to the use of A/C because it was absent without. I know that the smell is common when you do things like turn off the car with the A/C running because that supposedly leads to mildew build up (and then the smell). But my car was doing it from the very beginning and I did everything I could to make sure the A/C was off before I ever got home and even "aired" out the vents. Mildew still??

The other funny thing is that you never smelled it when you ran the defroster, which also uses the A/C. That was evident on any slightly chilly summer night but now that it's winter, I almost always use the A/C for defrost puposes (not liek you have a choice in these cars anyway - it's automatic) and I never smell it anymore. Hell, I even switched the A/C on and set it to 60 deg one night witht he dashboard vents - no smell (but I froze my ass off putting my nose up against the vent to smell for anything :().

It might come back when it's warm but that is months away. Maybe it's only with A/C use on cold settings? Dunno. I'm reaching for explanations here...

Well, I only mentioned the clutch because I have driven a few manuals in the past, and never have the clutches smelled as bad as this one. I dont know what they make it out of, but it reaks.

i don't smell burning oil or anything...it jus smells like urinals sometimes. and this does happen when i switch from a/c to fan. so as one of you guys said...it might be the dew from the a/c unit. hopefully it goes away! :)
