clear side markers

Hey all.
I got a white 6 and am trying to white out as much as possible. I have all white bulbs for turning and just bought a pair of clear tail ights off ebay (175 bones). The amber side marker light covers are just bugging me out. I'd love to have em clear. I'm sure they don't make ones specifically for the 6. I was wondering if anyone has had any sucess with it.

One guess was just buying that bumpy plastic from home depot and just cutting out a cover and sticking it in there. I don't need the whole fixture, just a cover. If that doesn't work I may just remove them, paint them white and put them back in. They don't really serve much of a purpose. Thanks.

The side markers differentiate the front from the back of the car at night and are mandated by DOT. That's why the clear tails still have the red bulge on the side for reflection purposes and the Euros don't. I believe it's illegal to run clear markers or paint over them. My $.02 worth.

Clear with an orange bulb would probably be legal, you think sam?

But any ideas on how to make the plasric clear? I'm not too afraid of a cop pulling me over for clear lights. I already have clear front and rear turn signals. Thanks.

I am not an expert, but I do see alot of cars on the road that have clear glass with amber bulbs, so I think that would be fine. I to want clear, because I have a black car and I think it will look much better.

BTW, I just had an idea, not sure if anyone mentioned this but... Your ideas gave me one. No one seems to make a lense yet, however there are lenses out there that are slightly smaller. Why not pull yours out and make a mold to get the exact size and shape. Once you did this you could get a light that would fit with in the size, and using bondo or fiber glass you could make a frame that would be the same size as the stock light, yet hold a clear lense. Paint it up the color of your car, and drill screw holes where the original ones are. You might have to create a small metal back plate for strenth and a place to put the screws. But it should work, and should look good.

making them clear yourself is going to involve baking the housings in your kitchen oven so the amber lens comes unglued. then you'll have to fabricate your own lenses from lexan or plexiglass. i don't know much about this process or how to reglue, but i'm sure those side markers are expensive to replace brand new. There are better things to put $100 towards for our car. Just deal with the amber lenses until APC makes some for us.

btw, that would be the only APC product I would ever buy...

I think I'm just gona paint them over. Who needs them anyway. I don't see many cars with the side markers. If someone can't tell the front of my car from the back with out that, they shouldn't be driving. The red back lights sorta gives that away. I also doubt a cop is gonna pull me over for that.

erak,

someone can't tell the front of my car from the back with out that, they shouldn't be driving.

The reflectors are for low visibility/night driving.

Probably thought up by some committe somewhere :).
