Reading Topic: Replying to Topic 'The FogLights are really
we get fog pretty bad on the stretch from ocean beach in sf to pacifica (it's all hilly coast)... it can be so thick that you're pretty much praying that no one is less than 15 feet in front of you because you can't even make out the signs that overhang the highway until you're directly under them... the warning signs just look like light blurs...
anyways personally i found the yellow, lower mounted fog lights to be the best... for comparison sake both cars were mounted with aftermarket foglights, the yellow ones were pilot, the superwhite ones were piaa... both had the same setup on an independant switch that allowed me to have it on with or without headlights and/or parking lights. both incidents happened in the middle of the night (i used to work swing shift and got off work at 12am)
my very first car i had the pilot's put on, it was before the superwhite craze... i had both my headlights and my foglights on, i tried turning off my headlights leaving only the parking lights and that was just stupid because i couldn't see shit but a faint yellow glow so close to the car i had to really look over the hood for it... however it did seem to light up a short distance of reflective lines and reflectors in the road... but i still wondered if that was how it was supposed to work or if it shoudl've been better...
my second car i jumped on the bandwagon and went for the superwhite piaa foglights. one night when i happened to be in that area i decided to check out how my lighting was... i turned off the headlights, leaving only the foglights and the parking lights on... this time i saw two white circles in the fog... no reflective lines, no reflectors... just a big white glare and what could've been two flash lights shining back at me (the fog wasn't even as thick as the first time because i was able to make out signs from a slight distance)... so it was then that i realized that the yellow served a purpose after all... haha...
now with the integrated foglights... eh.. i use them as driving lights... i like that beam it gives across the road :) i'm hardly in that area where i needed foglights so i haven't put any aftermarket ones on yet... altho we were talking about a project for me to get those oem (non-sport) ones to fit in a sport package bumper... haha...
