Angel Eyes....

I am a former 1999 Mercury Cougar owner and Angel Eyes were a big thing. For those of you who don't know what Angel Eyes are, they are found on the new BMW 5 series. It is an illuminated ring that goes around the headlights within the headlight housing. I have attached a post from the Cougar forums so you guys can see what they were trying to develop for those cars. Some users actually designed their own Angel Eyes, but the ones in the attached post are very nice because they use optics rather than an LED to illuminate the ring.

Let me know if you guys think this would work on our cars or if anyone has tried this.

Would love to have those...However I do have a question for you. If the attached post used optics instead of LED, does it actually function well as headlights?

Dawei213, I think they function more as parking lights rather than headlights. For instance, our parking lights are a single bulb that illuminate the high beam housing but doesn't really offer much as far as light is concerned. I think the angel eyes serve the same purpose. They are more for decoration than anything else. There is a picture of an older BMW in that post that is on the street with the angel eyes on. The cars around it have their headlights on. You can tell how much light they give off compared to the headlights in that picture.

angels will have no benefit to the road....it's merely an asthetic thing. I've found that with the HIDs, the fogs really aren't doin much...so angel eyes would be money.

imammy, how much did you pay for your HID kit? Also, do you have any pictures at night with the HID's on? Thanks.

PS: I'm not trying to turn this post into an HID discussion, so let's try to avoid that.

i paid $450 for them i think, but i got them well before the whole NHTSA warning, price drop thingy. I'm very pleased with them. Anyways, i don't have a digicam but in the picture below, my car is the one on the far right.

Very nice! You were right, you can't even tell that you have the integrated foglights. Anyways, back to the Angel Eyes.
