Auto-on headlamps

Just wondering if the M6 has auto-on headlamps that come on automatically when it gets dark outside? Most newer cars have this feature, however, on my M6 it doesn't seem to work. I always have to turn them on manually, even if it's 10:00 at night.

You could just leave your headlights on all the time. Then you wouldn't have to ever turn them off/on manually. Safter during the day too to have lights on. They automatically turn off when you turn off the car (after 30 seconds or so). I used to do that with my Celica.

I'm actually surprised that the 6 doesn't have Daytime Running Lights. I thought all new cars had them.

They do in Canada, just not in the US.

You guys are making broad assumptions about "new" cars. No, most new cars do not have DRL's, and no, most new cars do not have auto-on lights. Both of those went through phases and then the car companies discovered that consumers thought that they were more irritating than they were worth. So now some cars have them and some don't.

Personally I just leave my headlights on 24/7.

yeah, auto-on for me is just to leave them on... if you can stand the annoying beep the car has once you take your keys out and open the door.

That sensor is for the automatic climate control. The climate control uses the internal temperature (little vent that is below and to the right of the steering wheel) and the light sensor to make adjustments.
