cell phone plug always on

anybody remove the center console the wire the cell phone plug to the continius 12 volts.
i like to use it to gharge my phone at the job or to plug a cooler on during summer, but the plug only work when key's are on!:(

One sure way is to tap off the continuous 12 volt power to the radio and run through the center console back to the accessory plug you're talking about. Do you have the standard radio or Bose system? Someone on here has the wiring scheme for the base audio package.

I doubt if the 12v line to keep the radio memory alive is of sufficient size to carry the potential (no pun intended) amperage that these accessory points may be called upon to supply.

The safest way would be to run a seperate hot wire from the fuse box (look for a fuse location that is otherwise unused, such as moonroof or power seat or an extra slot if there is one). I would run at least as heavy a gauge as is already used.

No, but a cooler drawing several amps might. Who knows what else he might want to plug in someday: Power inverter, big spotlight, air compressor, etc. Using an under-gauge supply line is asking for a fire.
