Anyone here actually installed a HID kit?

Just wondering if anyone here has installed a xenon kit on their M6. I would like to know how difficult it is or is it a simple plug and play job.

Reading Topic: Anyone here actually installed a HID kit?

Even if you had the room to "plug and play," you really shouldn't. For a successful long-term HID installation it is imperative to run dedicated power and ground lines through a relay system for the ballasts and there fore bulbs. This is because while the steady-state current draw of HIDs is lower than halogens, the transient turn-on amperage is very very high. it is generally higher than the switching mechanisms are designed for and can result in failure in the long-term. Replacing an ignition cluster is not cheap.

Do it right the first time. In fact, there are companies out there that have taken up this need and are now including the full relay circuit necessary for a solid long-term HID installation. CATZ comes to mind...

More info about HIDs can be found here: http://www.intellexual.net/home.html

Enjoy,
