No the Accent is cheap, it is the 18 year old Daughter (1 ticket) that is the primary driver that sets that rate. If it was a boy that rate could be 60% more.

I heard that they changed that rule after doing a study. The myth has always been that boys are more prone to accidents than girls. However, a study they did recently showed that girls are just as, if not more likely, to get into an accident. They said that while boys tend to drive fast and reckless, girls don't pay attention and are more likely to be distracted. Supposedly starting this year when you renew your plan, that's supposed to change and both rates will be the same. That in turn means more money out of your pocket and into theirs.

Oh, and I was paying $4200 for my '95 Saturn SC2 for full coverage, but I paid it off last November and now I'm paying $2000 for liability only. 20 years old, No tickets, no accidents, but I still have "new driver points" which should go away this September when I renew my plan. Damn NJ...

wait ... i'm confused. how do you get the alarm to go off by opening a door, if unlocking the car (either by key or remote) disables the alarm? i've never been able to set it off, even by opening the trunk. i want to make sure that my alarm works, but i'm not going to do something stupid to find out. :)

soulbelly:

Try this. Roll down your window. Close the door and lock it to turn the alarm on. Reach in the window and open the door from the inside.

i tried that. didn't work. i tried locking the door with the key, with the remote, and by pressing the "lock" button.

so ... if you don't have the "shock sensor upgrade," is the remote nothing more than a keyless entry device? no matter what i try, i can't get the alarm to go off. no, i'm not going to try breaking in. :)

Ya know, I hate that too. By all means, girls drive worse than guys these days. Besides, I don't see how the insurance company could legally discriminate against you by raising the price of your insurance due to your gender.. Isn't that illegal?
