For those who have it, or are getting AA soon, if you have an old android phone or an android tv stick, you can convert the Android Auto to work wirelessly. I tried this out and it works but might be unnecessary for those who always plug their phones in the car to charge it anyway. But those who just want to keep their phones in their pockets, this is a good way to wirelessly connect to your Mazda's AA interface.

If Iím understanding this comment, actually the built in Nav does have a easy zoom feature. On the Nav screen, hide the menu on the bottom of the screen. (Select and click the left most icon.). Simply rotate the Command knob and the screen should zoom in and out.

Thanks for that info Trippp, I don't think I was aware of that. But even then, it takes a few twists and clicks to get into a mode to easily zoom in instead of just being able to pinch the screen. I'll have to try this on my next drive to see how well it works.

For the owner that did the Mazda 6 self install; How deep was the 10mm nut that holds the unit? I know the CX-5 owner had to use two(?) 8 inch extension, trying to see if that's the same for the 6 as well.

Apologies for being lazy but does anyone have the USB upgrade part no? For UK please

Also this needs to be done before the software upgrade?

Can the software upgrade be done myself or only by a dealer?

refer to this thread over at the mazda3revolution forum, all the neccessary info is back at the first page.

Software needs to be installed BEFORE any hardware work is to be done.

YES, firmware CAN be done by yourself, but you run the risk of a catastrophic failure of the CMU if the installation instructions are not followed exactly.

Can anyone that has the upgrade performed, say how long it took the dealership to apply the update?

I'm hoping to book an appointment next week. But would like to know how long it takes.

Thanks

Installed hub, cables, and software today. I would say it took be about 30 minutes for software and a little less than hour for hub and new cables.

Slightly off topic Q. With the update, will Mazda finally allow the siriusXM station logos to load on the screen? Such a minor issue overall but the blank box is a tad annoying.

I created a youtube video on trim removal to help those attempting to perform themselves. I first installed software like recommended in previous post.
