If anyone wants to get a working armrest USB, I made a guide here: https://forum.mazda6club.com/electri...et-stereo.html

As for the Commander Knob, you should be able to wire up the buttons around the knob to the steering remote. But since the remote programming on the stereo does not have those options. It would be quite pointless.

There is an interface that allegedly will work from iDatalink now if your radio can talk to it. For my 6 Sport I didn't care because there are no settings to lose in the stock radio and when I did the change-over the iDatalink cable wasn't available, so I went the PAC route to keep the wheel controls....

Unless youíre constantly changing your light and lock settings, youíre fine. The sounds are done on the new headunit, because, you know, itís a radio and controls the sounds and you know, audio. The door locks, light timers and windshield wipers are set beforehand and youíre fine unless you change them around often. I set mine when I got the car and never touched them again. They donít reset when the battery is disconnected so no worries there. You turn the beeps off in the new unit and youíre golden.

The unit looks great! How does it sound (compared to factory)?

Sound is leaps and bounds better than the factory HU. I havenít even began to manually tweak the EQ settings and have only used some of the default options but the loudness and clarity are pretty clear. And this unit specifically has the Sony DSO setting that stages the sound ( Low, mid, high) in the car, to change where you hear the sound delivered from and it works surprisingly well. I think having the subs in the doors and all the mid/highs already at ear level works even better than you might even guess it would.

There is also the option to tweak the loudness from BT audio specifically which makes BT much louder than any of us would is used to. Along with an Extra Bass option that does exactly what it says. I have ran into some distortion at really high volumes with some of the preset EQís while using heavy bass both with and without the extra bass option in use but itís still louder and clearer than factory and adjusting the EQ bass levels a bit has helped.

Iím far from an Audiophile but the sound is far better and the with the right touch it would improve it that much more. And thatís without changing anything but the HU.
