Hey guys, I posted another topic on this in the main Mazda6 forum, but it went on down the line of posting and didn't get noticed. Also, i was half asleep when i posted up the description so it probably didn't make much sense to anyone except me. SO, i'll try this again...

Alright, so two days ago, i went over to my friends house, and previously, when i left my house, my keyless entry worked just fine. When i got to his house, it no longer worked which i found strange. I pressed each button a number of times around the car to see if the location of the fob mattered that a signal may be weak or something. I got no response.

So i got home later that day and pulled my fob apart suspecting that it may have been the battery for it, but i had my doubts because i had already changed out the battery for it maybe 6 weeks ago... the battery was fine.

I decided to check my fuses for the door lock system as well as one under the hood, both checked out as okay.

Finally, just in case something might have happened to the fob and got pressed 257 times for the code to get lost, i decided to try and re-sync the fob to my car.

After disconnecting the car battery and reconnecting it, i went through the process to no avail, there was no response of the car recognizing my fob...

any suggestions? i have a feeling that my car's keyless receiver has gone kaput, but i'd hate to dish out the green to get this fixed at the dealership...

You can always buy a fob off of Ebay and reprogram it. It'll be cheaper than the dealer...

the thing is though, my current fob still transmits, my father checked the signal output of my fob compared to his for the van and the output was the same... leads me to believe that the receiver went out on the car...

what does the "key" represent on the dash? i've seen it before, but never paid any mind to it... my car didn't come with the manual so some of the little things that my car can/cannot do are unknown to me...

sadly my car's been out of warranty for about 3 months now...

Went out and checked my car, and i do have the blinking "key" light.. still don't know what it means though...

called the dealership and they recommended the re-sync with which i told them i tried yesterday like 6 different times... they told me that if i brought it in, just for a diagnosis check, they'd charge $80+tax not to mention the charges of what they would fix... to which i thought

any thoughts on if i bought the car's receiver at a junk yard and replaced the thing myself? b/c i'm fairly certain that's where the problem lays...

2003-04 Mazda 6 REMOTE PROGRAMMING

Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and unlock the driverís door using the power door lock switch on the door.

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT - use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. Leave key in the ignition.

Step 5: Open and close the driverís door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) twice. Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done!

is your vehicle a 2003-2004? if it is and it's still not working then you're probably in the same boat that i'm in...

i'm pretty sure that the keyless entry module in the car has gone bad....

did you ever get the lock/unlock confirmation that you did it right?
