Autoblog.com recently spotted what appears to be a Mazda 6 with SkyActiv-D badging sitting at an EPA facility in Michigan, once again fueling hopes that the diesel motor will be cleared for US shores soon. Although it looks like a pre-2018 vehicle, the gingerbread clearly reads Sky-Activ D. The exhaust is also slightly different, thought that could be due to testing. Read more about it here.
I'll be honest, I'm surprised there are many manufacturers wasting their time developing Diesels when clearly Electric is the future, especially Mazda with their NEW Sky-Active set to hit the market in the next couple of years. I get the better mileage thing but the cost of Diesel and the (slightly) extra cost of the Diesel motor doesn't really make it that much more of a savings. They're usually kinda slow, smell, Diesel isn't always easy to find....
Even the UK is headed away from Diesel.
