Does anyone know how to upgrade the android auto in our car?

Hi,

I have a 2018 6 Sport with MT.

I find my android auto to be a bit buggy. Maybe there are past posts, but I want to know if it is possible to upgrade Android Auto? If so how... etc.

When I switch songs to often (quickly) the system freezes on me for about 8 seconds and then the screen refreshes and then it works. This happens often. It really is no big deal but I also want to always be able to upgrade android auto when google does.

There have been two updates for AA-Car Play since I bought the car (2018) 14 months ago. If your car was manufactured more than approx. 3-4 months ago there is a new update available that should help. Call your dealer and make an appt. and have it installed.

Make sure your infotainment system is up to date. The latest version is 70.00.335. My dealer installed the update for free a few weeks ago. I think it's really faster and the FM radio is not turning on every time I start the car now. I never listen to FM radio. Always using Apple Carplay or in some cases bluetooth audio streaming. Now the system is just muted until I plug my phone.

Also, be sure that you use a high quality usb cable. I had lots of problems at first when I bought the car and it was my cheap cable that caused many problems. Disconnections and even phone reboot.

I should have been more clear in my post as I was referring to the infotainment system.

EVERYTHING dcoulombe mentioned is excellent advice.

As far as I understand it, all android auto processing is done on the phone. The infotainment system is merely just a way to view it. Like others have said, make sure you have a high quality USB cable. Often times many problems can be solved by using a better cable.

It is true that a lot of the AA functions happen on the phone and not in the infotainment system. I can't stress how important a good USB cable is too. I have pretty good luck with Anker cables - but yes, AA is just buggy. It works great mostly, but still is buggy from time to time.

I've had a similar issue with after skipping a few songs it will lock up, screen flash, and then work. Happens mostly with Amazon Music, but not with other music streaming apps.

Also, there are some major AA updates coming out this summer, hope a lot of them are bug fixes!

Agreed on the Anker cables. Just got some Powerline+ cables from them and they are amazing quality and I have no issues with AA when using them (except for the fact that I am running the hacked version and it sometimes has issues with audio streaming).
