The CorkSport Axelback Exhaust is like night and day compared to the stock exhaust!

The rumble exhaust is much deeper and pronounced so you can fully enjoy downshifts and pulls. The installation time was about 45 minutes, but could be faster if lifted on jacks. Definitely recommend for anyone considering an aftermarket exhaust :)

Looks and more importantly from the quick clip, sounds better. Perhaps you can capture a longer video - inside as well? Any drone or added obnoxious interior sound? Thanks.

I will get one this week. The interior sound has increased, but I would say it’s a nice addition. The exhaust note is appreciated more with the increase. Very minimal drone in the low rpm range but it settles when at crushing speeds.

I’ll capture a cold start video and try to capture an inside clip of audio this week!

Corksport already has you covered <img src="http://forum.mazda6club.com/images/smilies/5.gif" border="0" alt="" title=":)" class="inlineimg" /> (though, to me it sounds like they've got an intake on it too)

No one has a video on the cabin noise, but yeah this video has a better comparison!

Looks and sounds good, Modzas6x.

Thanks a lot! Look forward to seeing your future mods as well ?

It’s definitely worth it!

Is the rest of exhaust completely stock? I was just blown away by the bass in the after-install part of your video. Dont know if its my speakers or it actually sounds that good!
Waiting for your cabin video! Right now when I go hard throttle there is a lot of engine noise in cabin. Did that go away with this?

Yes the rest of the exhaust system is stock! I’ll definitely try my best to get audio for a cabin video and yeah with this exhaust the engine noise is instead replaced with the deeper exhaust note.

I had the Corksport SRI and exhaust system on my old 2007 Mazda3 and I loved it. I've had my 6 for two weeks and I've already looked at adding them to it, but this is more of a family car so the noise level has to stay minimal otherwise I'd jump on it at first opportunity.

I'll just have to save my modding for future cars I guess.

I have the catback from corksport and tbh, you don't hear the exhaust if you have your radio on.
unless you drive with your window, then you can definitely hear it.

personally, ive only had droning in the cabin when I had the SRI w/ the cold air box.

other than that, I got the exhaust after and occasionally, it would lug and make nasty sounds.

a tune from OVT has helped a lot w/ the tone of the car

Do you suggest going with the full exhaust set up or just the axel back set up?
I’m contemplating on which side to go with but unsure. Would it make a difference from one to the other or just the look under the car?

Thoughts?

This was my first car and the first time I ever bought an exhaust. I went off of my friend telling me to get a catback, since he got one for his IS250. Now, that's a V-6 w/ a Invidia exhaust which you can hear like a mile away (jokingly)

I wasn't expecting that w/ the 6, but damn, I was impressed when I installed it and turned on the car after it had sat there for about 16 hours.

I would ask yourself if you really care about your neighbors (I don't :wink2: )
It looks like your in Florida, so I'm assuming the exhaust laws aren't as horrendous as California's.

My only regret is that I didn't turn on the car w/ the Axleback and then proceed w/ the rest of the install.

If I remember correctly, you can always order a axleback and then corksport can also fill another order for the rest of it.

Personal preference. Maybe someone in Florida has one that you can hear. I don't think sound clips do anything justice.

I'm sure there's a difference, but I think that's up to each individual.

The only part I don't like about the axleback is that it makes the 6 look like it has 2 testicles dangling down :(
The goal would be to get a diffuser and try to hide it, but I don't even think MVtuning/Lenzdesign make diffuser big enough to cover it.

I know videos don’t do justice, especially with sound but from what I can gather. The Cat back set up seems to delete the slightly rice higher pitched tone. Kind of like taking the original exhaust and giving it a deeper tone.
I agree it’s personal preference but seems like I’d rather have the full set up.
Thanks for the input, do appreciate it.

How was the install? You do it yourself at home I take it? Doesn’t seem at all difficult.

On another note, I’m comparing the install to aftermarket fog lights that I’m dreading a little since you need to remove the whole front end. It’s more of a time allotted issue for me I believe but still.

It definitely gives it a deeper tone.

The install wasn't difficult by any means, but definitely harder than I thought. It would've helped more if I had jacked the car up higher or gotten ramps cause it was hard to work underneath. Axle back was very simple since its the tail end of the car, but if you get the full exhaust, that's where it gets a little tough to do on your own. You probably could with like some boxes and stuff holding up one end as you screw in the other end or just find a good buddy who doesn't mind getting dirty to help you out.

I also want to do the fog lights one day cause I would love more light on the road using the Morimoto fog lights, but to my understanding, most people have been able to install fog lights by taking the wheel off and then getting into the fender liner and then doing it that way.

Boy that would make it easier, thanks. I’ll look into that.
