Chattering Wipers

Anyone else experiencing chattering wipers? As the wipers sweep up, they wobble and make a THUD THUD THUD THUD noise as they skip along and end at the top of the stroke with a SQUUEEEEEK. Down stroke isn't as bad but still noisy. Driving around in the tail end of Florence has been annoying as hell. my 2009 and 2016 wipers were completely silent.

I had this issue from day one. The windshield was coated in the Zaino paint treatment that the dealership put on the car before I bought it (FYI - I didn't pay for it). I used a mixture of water, Dawn, and vinegar and scrubbed with newspaper, and the chatter stopped for awhile but it has slowly come back. As I used the wipers for an extended period the past few days, it's as bad as it's ever been.

It seems to get worse whenever I use the factory wiper fluid and then it leaves a film that's especially noticeable at night. I didn't make that connection before. I'm going to run the wiper fluid dry and top up with new fluid to see if that is what has been instigating it. I'm also going to swap out the blades for a high quality silicone blade as well.

Side note, they wipers no longer have the "J" hook to hold the blade arm on. It's a button/snap connection.

Anyone else noticing this?

Coat the windshield with rainx or a decent wax

Yeah I have noticed it. I'm going to clean the wipers today.
