What I would like to ask Mazda is about the lousy brakes I have on my 2014 GT. Any better brakes upgrade from Mazda? After market upgrade is just too expensive for this car.

Review is from Australia and they have the same 13:1 compression ratio.

what don't you like about the brakes?

I feel the pedal has a great firm and linear feel.

My brakes, since day one, is pathetic compared to my previous 2004 G35X. It's no comparison to my 2012 Mustang GT and 2012 MDX. The pedal is soft and the stopping distance is just too long. Now the front rotors, at 30K, start to shake, I need to get better rotors and pads. Never had rotors go bad on me at 30K! My previous G35X, the rotors went over 100K. Read up on how many people complained about the bad rotors in this forum!

Maybe you got a bad brake in your car, just bad luck I have 29K miles on my M6 and brakes are as good as they were when new. Excellent stopping and no vibrations even on the occassional hard stop.

I agree with GerryB. Sounds like you're comparing vehicles that are more performance oriented to a non performance oriented vehicle and expecting the same results in regards to braking performance.

A better comparison would be like the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, or Nissan Altima, since those vehicles are within the same class as the Mazda6.

No rotor issues here but I only have 20k mi. My braking was improved when I dumped the garbage Dunlops for Michelins.

I always retorque my lug nuts to 95 ft*lb when anyone has taken the wheels off. The dealer and others just put them on with an impact and call it a day. Perhaps the even torque helps keep them from warping.

I'm @ my local dealership getting two of my cars serviced and I'm told that the new Mazdaspeed6 will be a 2018 model that should be available in 2017 with AWD. Sounds interesting.
ExB5 and GWL like this.

Interesting indeed. If true, that's right about the time my powertrain warranty goes kaput and likely, the last year model of Gen 3 GJ. A good reason to trade up, for a more powerful and "perfected" GJ M6. We'll see..

With the 2.5T out...I could smell Mazdaspeed in my future (back to forced induced)..

Besides the awful and now old NB1 HU setup (my only pet peeve of this car)...I just miss the sweet BOV sounds.

Driving a slow car fast is more fun, than driving a fast car slow.
